Privacy Policy - SOCH Mobile Application

1. Introduction

National AIDS Control Organisation (NACO) respects the privacy of users and is committed to protecting personal and health-related information collected through the SOCH Mobile Application (hereinafter referred to as “SOCH App”).

The SOCH App is developed and managed under the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India. The application is hosted on secure Government-approved infrastructure and is intended for healthcare service delivery, programme monitoring, patient management, and related public health activities.

The terms and conditions of this Privacy Policy shall be governed by the laws, rules, and regulations applicable in India. Any dispute arising under this policy shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the Government of India.

2. User Account & Personal Information

Use of the SOCH App may require users to register within the system. Certain personal information including name, username, mobile number, email address, organizational affiliation, and other authorized identifiers may be collected for user authentication, account management, communication, and security purposes.

Information collected through the application shall be used only for authorized healthcare and programme-related purposes.

3. Health & Programme Information

The SOCH App may collect health-related and programme-related information including counselling records, HIV testing details, treatment records, laboratory reports, service utilization details, medication adherence information, and related healthcare data for programme implementation and patient care coordination.

4. Emails, SMS & Notifications

By registering in the SOCH App, users consent to receiving official emails, SMS, notifications, and other communications related to healthcare services, programme activities, security alerts, and system updates.

5. Passwords & Security

User accounts are protected through secure authentication mechanisms and passwords. Users are responsible for maintaining confidentiality of their login credentials and for preventing unauthorized access to their accounts.

Users are advised to change system-generated passwords upon first login and periodically update passwords as per security guidelines.

6. Logging Data

Whenever users access the SOCH App, certain technical and log information may be collected automatically. This may include Internet Protocol (IP) address, device information, operating system version, application configuration, usage statistics, date and time of access, and error logs.

7. Automatically Collected Information

The SOCH App may automatically collect information such as device model, mobile operating system, browser type, unique device identifiers, network information, and usage patterns to improve system functionality, monitoring, and service delivery.

The application may use GPS technology or similar services to determine location information where required for programme operations, outreach activities, attendance monitoring, facility mapping, or healthcare service delivery.

Users may disable location services through device settings. However, certain application features dependent on location services may not function properly if location access is disabled.

8. Disclosure of Information

Information collected through the SOCH App shall remain confidential and shall not be sold or commercially distributed.

9. Data Retention Policy

Information collected through the SOCH App shall be retained for the duration necessary for healthcare operations, programme implementation, reporting requirements, legal compliance, and Government record retention policies.

10. Standard Browser Data Collected

While accessing the application, standard server logs may be collected including IP address, domain name, browser type, operating system, pages visited, downloaded files, and date/time information. Cookies and related technologies may be used to improve user navigation and system functionality.

11. Children’s Privacy

The SOCH App is not intended for use by minors except where permitted under authorized healthcare programmes and applicable Government guidelines. NACO does not knowingly collect personal information from children without lawful authorization.

12. Security Measures

The SOCH App implements industry-standard technical, administrative, and organizational safeguards to protect information from unauthorized access, misuse, disclosure, alteration, or destruction.

Security measures may include encrypted communication, role-based access controls, secure hosting infrastructure, monitoring systems, and audit mechanisms.

13. Third-Party Service Providers

NACO may engage authorized third-party organizations or service providers for system maintenance, analytics, infrastructure support, and operational assistance. Such entities shall access information only to the extent necessary for authorized functions and shall be obligated to maintain confidentiality and security of information.

14. Changes to Privacy Policy

NACO reserves the right to amend or update this Privacy Policy at any time. Updated versions shall be published through official channels or within the application.

Continued use of the application after such modifications shall constitute acceptance of the revised Privacy Policy.

15. User Consent

By accessing or using the SOCH App, users consent to the collection, processing, storage, and use of information in accordance with this Privacy Policy.
